Bernie Sanders Passes Hillary Clinton in NH

  • by

A new Franklin Pierce / Boston Herald poll in New Hampshire has shown quite a shake-up in the Democratic candidates. Senator from Vermont Bernie Sanders is leading Hillary Clinton 44% to 37%.

According to The Boston Herald, “Just 35 percent of likely primary voters say they are “excited” about Clinton’s campaign, according to the poll. And 51 percent of voters say that while they could support her, they aren’t enthusiastic about her White House bid.

For Democrats who had hoped to lure Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren into a presidential campaign, independent Sen. Bernie Sanders might be the next best thing. Sanders, who is opening his official presidential campaign Tuesday in Burlington, Vermont, aims to ignite a grassroots fire among left-leaning Democrats wary of Hillary Rodham Clinton. He is laying out an agenda in step with the party's progressive wing and compatible with Warren's platform _ reining in Wall Street banks, tackling college debt and creating a government-financed infrastructure jobs program. Clinton has recently faced greater criticism regarding her email scandal, and just released a $350 billion plan for cutting student loan debt in an effort to emphasize her policy plans.

Sanders has been running a populist, grassroots campaign, standing out as a self-proclaimed “socialist”.

Both Clinton and Sanders have had Black Lives Matter protestors try to interrupt their rallies.

This may change how voters are viewing the Democratic race to be candidate which many have assumed will go directly to Hillary.
