Clinton takes California's Democratic Primary

Following over a month of aggressive campaigning in the state of California, Senator from Vermont Bernie Sanders came away from the polls with what appears to be a double-digit defeat against the presumptive nominee for the Democratic Party, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The state was a must-win for Sanders, but the senator has promised to continue his campaign to Washington D.C., not for the nomination, but for his platform.

At a rally in Santa Monica on Tuesday, Sanders said that his non-stop campaign in the state represented “one of the most moving moments of my life — seeing thousands and thousands of people coming out, people who are prepared to stand up and fight for real change in this country.’

Sanders tone shifted following his loss in California. He congratulated Hillary Clinton on her win, made no mention of superdelegate controversy, and didn’t touch on his key argument that he was the only Democrat who could defeat Republican Party candidate Donald Trump come November.

Trump easily claimed the California primary as the sole candidate left standing, promising “real change, not Obama change.”
